Warning: Highly AU. Sometimes it might seem like a comedy play. (Where are the curtains?)
Author’s notes:

I try to keep the elvish I use at a high level, but I will not state it is flawless, though I am tempted to say there might be more errors in my English than in my elfish, naturally I apologize for any of them. I base my translations upon several wordlists and the grammar as given by Helga F.

One more thing:
“ ” Indicates speech
/ Indicates thought
~~~~~~~~ Indicates a change in time or place
- - Emphasises the word(s)
` ` Indicates far speaking.
Let’s go:
Chapter one Prelude
Elladan rushed througe coe corridors, his anxiety swiftly building. Of all the times for his lover to be illusive this was the worst time ever. His father has ordered him to lead this hunting patrol and they were to leave within the hour. Of course, that was when Elrond had told him, half an hour ago. And Elladan knew he needed at least twenty minutes to make sure everything was in order.
He growled as yet another idea proved fruitless. He had no time to write a letter, which he was reluctant to do in the first place. He never was one for writing.
“Man Raica, hiru Elladan?”
Elladan turned and smiled at Aiwandila. “I have to lead today’s hunting patrol. We leave in half an hour, but I have to let Coirëhón know. He’ll wonder where I’ve gone.”
She smiled at him and her eyes looked out the window. “I doubt you can tarry any longer, my lord. Your father, our lord, would only be angered if you do. I shall tell him you left and tried to find him but there just wasn’t enough time.”
He looked at her grateful and warmly. “Would you? Oh, that would set my mind and heart at ease whilst on the road. Thank you, Aiwandila.” He hurried away after telling her what he wanted her to transfer to his lover.
She smiled as she watched him leave. /Varna rautië. Nai carit ilya i-lerië ar ú lerya./
“My lord, I’ve just received word from Elrohir. He’s on his way back from Lóriën. I’ve taken the liberty of sending a messenger to Elladan to inform him. No doubt he’ll wish to meet his twin.”
Elrond smiled warmly at knowing not only Elladan to return soon, but also Elrohir. “Thank you, Erestor, that was most compassionate of you. I appreciate it and I am sure the twins will too. We have a lot to do before they arrive.”
Erestor no.
.
He didn’t speak it but he was extremely glad the twins returned. They kept his father from working all day every day. Ever since Elrohir had left Elrond had been harder to stop. They tried, Elladan hardest of all, but it just wasn’t enough. But now Elrohir would be back soon and they’d be back to full strength.
Erestor knew, even if Elrond did not, the ruler wasn’t doing too well. He needed to spend time away from work if he was to cope. And thanks to the twins it was possible to lure him out daily.
He closed his eyes before entering the room. He’s waited all day for this moment, the second he would enter his beloved’s room the world ceased to exist and he would be able to let go. His eyes widened when he entered the door and saw a strange she-elf standing there. “Massë Hiru Elladan?”
Aiwandila smiled at him. “I’m sorry, Coirëhón, but he left. I told him not to go, at least not without word, but he just left. And in such a hurry too. Did you have a fight?”
He sat down and blinked, unable to digest the news. “He left? Why?”
She shrugged. “He did not tell me. All he said it had something to do with you. I’m really sorry. For all his kindness you’d think he’d come up with a better way to push someone aside. For all his courage he could at least have the decency to tell you you’re no longer wanted or needed to your face. It’s just cruel if you ask me.”
She handed the poor elf a glass of water and hugged him. “I waited here for you when I could not find you. Where’ve you been?”
He shrugged. “Sparring with Lord Glorfindel. He left?”
He briskly stood up and left. He did not look back. If he had he would have doubted her words, but as it was he did not see the wicked glitter in her eyes nor the satisfied smile on her face.
She was happy. This worked better than planned. A few more words and he would be out of the picture at last. She went to her room to prepare the next move.
Elladan sighed longingly. The soldiers shook their heads. “Why do they continue hiding it? It is so obvious they’re in love.”
“Aye, but Lord Elrond still is unawares and I will not be the one to tell him.”
“But surely he would not begrudge his son his love?”
“You would think so, but he is also very determined he…” “Lord Elladan? What is it?”
Elladan shook his head. “You do not have to alter your conversations for my sake, but I do appreciate the gesture. I hope we get some luck soon. I want to return as swiftly as possible.”
One of the scouts ran towards them. “My lord, a messenger just delivered this for you. It’s from lord Erestor.”
Elladan accepted it and opened the message. When he finished reading it he smiled again. “Elrohir is on his way home. Erestor suggests we meet him.”
“A sound idea, my lord. He is travelling alone and even though the roads are safer than they’ve ever been it still isn’t wise to travel alone.”
Elladan nodded. “Aye, we shall ride towards him and shoot some deer or game or whatever on the way.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Elrohir hugged his twin tight. “I should have known you would come. I missed you.”
“I missed you too, Ro.”

Elrohir smiled at the soldiers, who kept their distance and he frowned. “Why do I miss someone, gwanunig?”

Elladan smiled sadly. “Adar sent me to lead this hunting patrol. You know Star doesn’t join any patrols.”
Elrohir nodded. “I am sorry, ‘Dan. Let’s hurry home than. How is he? And how are you?”
Elladan laughed. “We’re both fine, Ro. And I’ve made up my mind. I’m going to tell father about us. I don’t care what he says.”
Elrohir smiled. “It’s about time. And what can he say when the entire Valley is on your side? The both of you are loved and you do belong together. It warms me just looking at you two.”
Elladan smiled and nodded. “Thank you. I can’t wait to see Él’s reaction when I kiss him first thing.”
Elrohir laughed. “Just remember to call him by his real name when you inform father. Don’t use your nick name, gwanunig.”
Elladan grinned. “Nan ro -ná- Élinya.”

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Erestor groaned when someone pounded on his door. One look out the window told him it was still the dead of night. He threw open the door and glared at the silhouette on his porch. “Man?”
“Erestor, a tragedy has just occurred.”
Erestor rolled his eyes. “Glorfindel, must you always over-exaggerate? What has happened? Are we invaded?”
Glorfindel shook his head. “No, if only. I could handle that. No, Coirëhón has left. Here.”
Blinking and bedazzled Erestor accepted the small piece of paper Glorfindel handed him and he read the note inscribed upon it.
Hwarin Glorfindel,
Apsenat nin autië ten ú quetto nan úcáran tápë. Iloi pústuvan enyalië Imladris ar te ta márar enta, nan lú ná ëa ni hirë már sinya. Námarië. Nai i-eleni unsílar vandëtyassë.
Coirëhón
Erestor’s eyes filled with tears and he gasped. “You’ve got to find him! Bring him back!”
Glorfindel shook his head, releasing his own tears. “I’ve tried, but he’s left no trace to track and time isn’t on our side either. He left over a day ago.”
Erestor leaned against the wall for support. “Aiya, may Elbereth grant us the strength to support Elladan when he learns.”
He closed his eyes in an in vain effort to retrain his tears. “What do you suppose happened?”
Glorfindel shrugged. “Maybe he could no longer take the secrecy? Or the uncertainty? I really have no idea. They seemed so happy and perfect for each other.”
Erestor nodded. “Poor Elladan. Meeting his twin halfway and to come back to an empty bed.”
Glorfindel nodded. “But what about Elrond? Will he notice?”
Erestor placed his hand before his mouth in shock. He hadn’t even thought about that. “Aiya. You are right. This is a tragedy! A total disaster. We must support Elladan to the best of our abilities.”
Glorfindel nodded. “And we shall!”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Elrond sighed as he watched him ride away. /May the Valar guard you on your path, for you are beyond my reach./ He forced back his tears that threatened to leave his eyes. Elordsords do not cry. Another heavy sigh left his lips as the elf he watched ride away became smaller still. /I shall miss you. But the worst thing is that now I’ll never be able to tell you./ If only he would have told him, would have had the courage to do so yesterday, but he hadn’t. Elrond’s eyes glazed over as his memory took him back only one day.

He had been working hard, without his sons there to prevent it he didn’t allow himself to let anything pile up. Anst wst when he hadn’t expected it anymore the door opened and the one elf he needed to see walked in. “Coirëhón, man alassë. Saes, unhávat.”

Coirëhón smiled, though it didn’t reach his eyes and Elrond had been instantly worried. “Is there anything I can do?”
“Aye, my lord. Allow me to leave.”
Elrond cocked his head. “Somehow it doesn’t sound like you’re asking for a vacation.”
“No, my lord. I don’t think I can ever return here. Recent events make it impossible for me to remain.”

Those words were like a cold shower but Elrond nodded and gave his permission and, after a trying negotiation had managed to persuade him to move to ‘Lóriën.

Elrond smiled, his mind returning to the present. At least now he could keep an eye on him, if only from afar. /But why wouldn’t you tell me what drove you away? It’s impossible for you to have found out, but what else can send you from my realm faster than a Dwarf? Nai i-Valar tírar or ellë./
