Whats New PussyCat

" Warg piss....." muttered Glorfindel , as he eyed what used to be the ordered simplicity of his desk.
" I cannot believe I left this open!"

Fighting the urge to slam it, Glorfindel walked over and shut the window. Scrolls that once lay neatly stacked on his desk, lay scattered all over the floor, his quills , obviously carried on a breeze , stood at attention like mired soldiers in the dirt of a nearby potted plant. The golden Lord ran a slender finger over the top of his mahogany desk leaving a trough in the dirt that accumulated in a thin layer.

" By the Valar, this is disgusting......."

Haldir and Feredir stood quietly near the large bed, staying as far from the grumbling Elf as possible. Raised eyebrows and smirky smiles passed between them. It was quite rare to see the gentle Lord this worked up about anything and the two of them found the Elf’s distraction amusing to say the least.

Glorfindel stomped about , retrieving scrolls and muttering in Elvish.....words that Haldir didn't even know the gold Lord knew let alone used!!!!!

“Meleth,” Haldir began smoothly, “would you like some. . . help?”

Feredir chuckled, unable to help himself as Glorfindel bent near his feet to pluck another wayward roll of parchment, which skittered from his hand as a pleasant breeze whisked through the open window, stirring
the already neatly replaced items.

Glorfindel glared up his tittering companions through a curtain of irritably disheveled hair as he moved to snatch the taunting parchment once more, grumbling as he was forced to his knees to retrieve the
errant scroll for it had leisurely trundled beneath his bed, resting just beyond his grasp, rocking gently back and forth as if daring him to try once more.

Feredir stifled a rather giddy laugh and glanced to Haldir who merely shook his head at Glorfindel’s ridiculous persistence. He had always known his mate to be fastidious in nature, but to actually see it in
action was simply most amusing indeed!

Glorfindel grunted as he bent lower still, stretching his arm beneath the bed’s underside, hand diligently searching for the wandering paper. With a growl, he flattened himself to the ground and slid beneath the
blanket that draped the bed, peering underneath.

“Aiiiiiiyyyyaaa!” he yelped suddenly, recoiling with a startled gasp and scooting backwards across the wooden floor.

Feredir echoed his sentiment with a gasp of his own, for the elf’s sharp shriek had frightened him as well and he clutched at Haldir’s arm, the March Warden shooting him a most annoyed look.

“Let go, you grand fool” Haldir chastised him, shaking his arm loose from the Gypsy elf’s grip.

“My apologies,” Feredir said with rather sheepish grin, “but he did yell like a woman and to me, this was a pie piercing pain in my ear!”

“By Elbereth’s light,!” Haldir groaned, giving the Gypsy a shove. “Glorfindel, what in all of Arda has gotten into you?”

Glorfindel quickly collected himself , embarrassed at his juvenile outburst. A sharp stinging on his fingertip drew his attention to the crimson drops that oozed from the pale flesh to splash down onto the floor. Without thinking he shoved the bleeding digit into his mouth and peered from a distance beneath the bed.

Haldir approached the tumbled Lord and kneeled down on the floor beside him, Feredir following, but keeping his distance from Glorfindel, his ears still ringing. Bending over at the waist, he followed his lover’s line of sight, narrowing his eyes to better peer into the darkness below the bed.

In the very corner near the wall, two gold eyes flashed back at him , their feral shine causing him to jump, eliciting yet another squeal from the jittery golden Lord.

Feredir paced with his hands about his ears.

"Do not scream so......." he sputtered , humming to himself to further drown out the noise.

" Elbereth’s light, Glorfindel......there is something under your bed!" Haldir’s expression of utmost shock was almost humorous. Glorfindel turned and stared at him, pulling the throbbing finger from his lips.

"It bit me..... and it was hairy...." , he replied flatly ,showing Haldir the swollen pinkie.

The h Wah Warden’s eyes widened and he paled a few shades, swallowing hard as he dared to peek beneath the coverlet.

" You don’t think its a . . .spider. . . do you, meleth?"

Haldir picked up the edge of the blanket gingerly with the tips of his fingers to get a better look.

Satisfied that the shrieking had ceased, Feredir padded up behind the bent pair, laying his hand gently on the March Warden’s back.

" Let me see the spider!!" he blurted, causing Haldir to jump, his head hitting the bed frame with a resounding thump.

“Idiot!” Haldir bellowed, rubbing the top his head as he slapped Feredir’s tattooed shoulder smartly before shoving him away roughly, lest the dark elf attempt to “see” anything else.

“I am no idiot,” Feredir said simply, “for it is you who is hitting your head upon Glorfindel’s bed over an invisible spider.”

Muttering under his breath about the confounded ignorance of Gypsy Elves, Haldir withdrew his position from the edge of the bed frame.

“YOU get it out, then. . .brave one,” Haldir grumbled, sitting back on his heels with a toss of his silvered locks.

Feredir snorted a laugh. “I shall,” he assured Haldir, sinking to his belly making a chiding sound with a click of his tongue. “Spiders should not be feared for they are often a sign of good fortune.”

“Humph,” Haldir grunted, secretly hoping the Gypsy would get a nip from the alleged arachnid. The March Warden certainly wasn’t sticking his hand under there to find out what lurked in the darkness!

Reaching one hand beneath the bed, Fer inc inched his way closer to the unknown menace that had drawn blood from Glorfindel’s hand. “Perhaps it is a Balrog, yes?” he teased with a wink, the tip of his tongue showing through his lips as he concentrated on extracting the creature. “Aha! Feredir has you!” he announced triumphantly, his hand clamping down upon the fur covered animal which screeched very much in the manner of some infantile demon. “Come, let us see what we have. . .”

From the murky dark beneath the bed’s underbelly, Feredir withdrew his hand which clutched the backside of a very irate, very frightened bundle of ebon fur which sought desperately to whip around and sink it’s teeth into the offending hand.

“AIIIYA!!! ‘Tis worse than a Balrog!” Feredir shouted. “’Tis a raug-um!” (evil demon)

“Oh. . .please!” Haldir groaned, snatching the hissing furball from the stammering Gypsy and cradling it against his chest rather tenderly. “It’s a kitten, Orc brain.”

“Yes!” Feredir practically shrieked, nodding his head vigorously, “toss it away before you are possessed by it’s evil!”

“Oh by the VALAR, Feredir!” Haldir snapped, rolling his eyes. “What nonsense!” He stroked tiny iny creature’s trembling head with one finger. “It’s far more terrified of you than you are of it!” Crooning softly in Elvish, Haldir calmed the frightened kitten as best he could. “Meleth,” he said over his shoulder to Glorfindel, “come and see the fearsome feline.”

Glorfindel poked his head over Haldir’s shoulder to take a good look at the tiny creature. Its soft black face was scrunched up in a pout and it s mouth was open and making pitiful mewling sounds.

The golden Lord sighed and practically melted to the spot, his tender finger coming out to tickle the trembling bundle. Before he could pull away, however, the terrified furling latched onto his injured digit , sinking its claws in to his flesh.

“Aiiiiiiiya! " Glorfindel howled yanking back his battered finger. The kitten , having been startled by the frantic movement , hissed and clawed his way up onto Haldir’s shoulder.

" I don't think it likes me" muttered the golden Lord, prodding at his tattered flesh.

Haldir plucked the trembling kitten from his tunic and nuzzled it nose to nose, speaking in a voice that Glorfindel had never heard fall from the March Wardens lips. " Did that big old Balrog slayer frighten you, pen-neth?"

Glorfindel grimaced at the March Wardens comment, ashamed that he had made such a spectacle over a tiny, but hardly defenseless ball of fluff.

As he watched Haldir cuddle the creature, making kissy noises against its soft coat, Feredir grabbed him and yanked him aside. The gypsy’s eyes were wide and flicked nervously between the kitten and the gushing March Warden.

"Glorfeeendel...." he stammered, trying to keep his voice quiet. " Do not be taken in by this ... this...creatures wily ways. It is very sneaky this raug-um"

Glorfindel looked at the agitated gypsy incredulously.

" Mellon,,,," he replied patting Feredir’s arm reassuringly, " it is just a cat."

" Ahhhh,,,, there’s where you are wrong " Feredir looked both ways and made sure that Haldir had the creature well occupied. Leaning close to Glorfindel he continued. " That raug-um will steal your breath away...lure you in with its soft hairs and rumbling growly sounds and then....when you least expect it ....POOF!.."

Feredir poked the golden Lord hard in the chest almost knocking him off balance.

" You are soon in the halls with Mandos.. dead....no more...done!" The gypsy made a slashing movement against his throat.

Haldir smirked and shook his head. “That has got to be most ridiculous bunch of Gypsy NONSENSE I have ever heard.” Then, smiling mischievously, he curled his hand into a mocking rendition of a feline’s claw tipped paw and hissed, grabbing Feredir’s shoulder with a quick jerk.

“AIYA!” Feredir cried, leaping away from the March Warden, clutching his arm as if mortally wounded.

A barking snort of a laugh escaped the Galadhrim as he practically fell over with laughter, for the Gypsy was so genuinely frightened, he could not help but be amused.

“This is not funny, Haldir!” Feredir chastised him with a shake of his finger. “You shall see! You mock me now, but wait and see who is laughing when that. . that. . .Balrog spawn steals your soul!”

“By the GODS!” Haldir groaned. “Glorfindel. . . come and hold her. Show this superstitious Gypsy that he has nothing to fear. She is calm now and will not. . .eh. . . sharpen her teeth upon your flesh.”

The kitten emitted a soft mewl and purred contentedly as Haldir cradled her much in the manner of a small child and tickled her belly with the tip on one finger.

Glorfindel padded over and gawked at the small bundle in Haldir’s arms. He was not sure what tugged at his heart more, the tiny creature, or his lover’s tender embrace. He had seen Haldir in many situations, but none had touched him as this. The mighty March Warden of Lorien ,whose legendary sneer could freeze the very fires of Mordor, cradled this small life in his arms as if it were a precious jewel.

The golden Lord could not wipe the stupid grin from his face as he reached and took the purring kitten from Haldir’s arms.
ldirldir smiled at the tentativeness in Glorfindel’s embrace. He was gentle, but awkward, the tiny furling almost lost within his arms. The kitten snuggled further into the crook of his arm and he grinned, looking up at Haldir with suddenly water eyes. He took a deep breath, his chest suddenly feeling heavy.

Haldir tilted his head and came to stand by his mate, so obviously taken by this creatures delights.
Feredir could stand no more and stomped over to the bed throwing him dontoonto it in a dramatic flop.

" Ohhhhh do not listen to me... I’m just silly gypsy......when you are both dust and that thing is devouring the entire city I will be telling you so!!!!!!" Crossing his arms across his chest he continued to mutter.
" No......Feredir knows nothing....go ahead..play with the evil thing....you'll be sorry!"

Glorfindel and Haldir continued to coo over the kitten, the golden Lord daring to run his cheek across the soft nap of fur.

" Oh meleth....she is adorable...." Glorfindel wiped his cheek with the back of his hand, sniffling.

“Yesss, indeed she is. . .” Haldir purred, the soft rumble of his voice very much like the contented thrum of the kitten’s pleasure at being adored.

Turning to Feredir, Haldir cast him a disparaging look. “How have you survived this long with all of that madness roiling about in your head? By the Gods. . .”

“Be gentle with him, Haldir,” Glorfindel chided the March Warden. “His beliefs may differ from ours but that is no reason to berate him so.”

Haldir smirked. “Of course it is. His ‘beliefs’ are absurd!” Then, taking a seat beside the Gypsy, Haldir wound his arm around Feredir’s shoulders, the dark elf shooting him a chastened glare mixed with a hint of besetment. Tilting the elf’s chin upward, Haldir placed a lingering kiss upon the full lips of the ruffled Gypsy. “You are quite fetching when addled,” he said with a wink. “If I did not adore you so, I must admit I would be tempted to strangle you with that silly scarf.”

Feredir snorted. “Is tempting to smother you with your red cloak while sleeping, Haldir.”

The March Warden squeezed the Gypsy’s shoulders affectionately. “Fear not, meleth. . . I shan’t let the wicked kitten purr in your general direction.”

Glorfindel continued to wipe at his eyes, the moisture still trailing down his pink cheeks.

" Ohhhh you sweet thing...." he sang, his voice taking on a definitely nasal quality.
With a wet snuffle he hoisted the kitten before his blurry eyes. " Look at you.... you've got me all teary"

Haldir watched as the golden Lord palled around with the tiny bundle of fur.

"Look , meleth,,,," he said pointing to the now waltzing Elf. “They are getting along so well... and not once has she tried to kill him!" Haldir tried to contain a snort with out much success.

Feredir shot the March warden a sideways glance. " That’s alright,,,, make the big jokes..." he muttered biting at his nails. " When he visits Mandos for the third time perhaps he will save you a place in line."

Haldir pushed Feredir’s down was about to wrestle the gypsy to the bed and make him beg for mercy, when all of the sudden, the air was rent with a loud explosion of air.

" Ayia........ahhhhhh........shooooooooo ! Ugh......." The wet sound reverberated off the walls of the small room.

Sitting up quickly, he spun to look at Glorfindel who held the struggling kitten out at an arms length, his face contorted and pink.

Feredir took in a gasping breath and scrambled up on his knees behind Haldir, not knowing what to make of the scene before him.

With a pathetic loll of his head , Glorfindel turned towards the gawking pair and Feredir shrieked.
" Aiyyyyyyaaaaaa..... I told you!!!!!!!!....." Haldir had to force himself not to gasp for the usually exquisite golden Lord was a drippy , swollen, oozing mess.

" Meleth...." he sniffled...holding out the dangling kitten" I don’t feel so well..." Glorfindel stumbled forward dropping the frightened kitten on the bed. Feredir leapt back, his eyes wide, a silent scream on his lips as the horrid creature rubbed up against him.

“Back!” Feredir hissed, “do not inflict upon me your pain!”

The kitten merely glanced at him and began to clean herself daintily, licking the end of one tiny foot and scrubbing her face meticulously.

“Anything that bathes in its own spittle is unclean!” Feredir announced, obviously disgusted.

Haldir grinned wickedly and laved the side of Feredir’s face with a sloppy swipe of his tongue before rising to his feet and approaching the sniffling golden Lord.

“Aiya! Unclean!” Feredir spat, wiping the trail of wetness with his hand. “You desecrate me with your uncleanly ways, Haldir!”

Rolling his eyes with a dramatic sigh, Haldir laid a hand upon Glorfindel’s cheek, an expression of concern etching his angular features. “Meleth, you do not look well. . .” he noted, his protective nature rising at once at the sight of his mate enduring any sign of discomfort.

He gathered Glorfindel into his embrace as if he were a stricken elfling, one hand threading gently through the flaxen tresses that spilled down his lover’s back. What a strange illness. . . certainly not something common or noted in any healing books he had stolen from Celeborn’s library. . .

“It is the demon, I tell you!” Feredir insisted, scooting to the far edge of the bed where the kitten continued to calmly stare at him, her yellow eyes luminously curious as the gauzy scarf that trailed along his shoulder fluttered tantalizingly with every movement.

The Gypsy glared at the ebon feline menacingly. “Do not look upon me in that way, you foul creature!” he admonished her, shaking his finger threateningly.

The kitten’s gaze followed his bobbing finger, her head moving up and down with each shaken emphasis. Suddenly, she crouched and sprang, batting at the scolding digit playfully. With a yelp of terror, Feredir shook her loose, toppling onto the wooden floor, arms flailing about helplessly, the edge of one booted heel lingering humorously upon the mattress.

Haldir helped the sniffling Lord to a nearby chair and squatted down beside him, tucking his damp hair behind his reddened ears.

" Meleth....can I get you something....." The March Warden made a wincing smile." Anything????"

Glorfindel swatted at his dripping nose, an incessant itch making it twitch and wrinkle. " Ummmm....I cud use a bit ub wader..." he managed, squeezing his irritated eyes shut.

Haldir tilted his head curiously. Perhaps Glorfindel’s tongue was swollen too, he wondered, a suddenly lascivious smirk crossing his concerned features. Oh by the Valar what we the thinking!!!!!!!!!!

“Meleth.." he prodded, rubbing the golden Lords fingers in his hands. " I do not understand,,,,"

Glorfindel let out a frustrated groan and lifted his hand in a drinking motion. " A drink......ub wader.......you dow, wader!!!!!!

Haldir’s eyes lit up with sudden understanding.

" Yes yes.... of course water........." Glorfindel rolled his reddened eyes and slumped back in the chair......

" That’s wud I sed....wader,,,,,,"

" Feredir.....! Feredir.....?" Haldir looked about for the gypsy, who had just moment ago been lounging on the bed. He was about to get up and hunt him down when he noticed the tip of a boot on the coverlet.

Following the boot down , he came upon the entire body of the gypsy laying paralyzed on the ground, his eyes practically , bugging out of his head. Upon his heaving chest sat the kitten, gratuitously cleaning between her legs, one tiny paw held high in salute.

" Feredir...!" Haldir grumbled, rising to pluck the tiny creature form his chest. " Stop playing with the cat and get Glorfindel a drink.....I'm afraid he’s a bit ....off."

Feredir rolled onto his belly, breathing heavily, the evil creature once again in Haldir’s arms.

"Off???..........I'm surprise he draws breath still.." The gypsy muttered as he pulled himself to stand, adjusting his scarf over his shoulder.

Grumbling all the way over to the water pitcher, he poured a goblet and returned to Glorfindel, glaring at the cat on Haldir’s lap with distaste.

The golden Lords head was tipped down almost onto his chest , and Feredir had to tip it up with his finger to offer him the water. “Here,,,,,,," he said, making a sour face," drink this....."

Glorfindel grabbed the goblet with a wrinkling of his irritated nose.

"Thank...you...." he sputtered , taking a big mouthful of the water.

The gypsy was about to say “you’re welcome” when all of the sudden, Glorfindel’s face scrunched up in a mask of helpless fear and another explosion of air.. and this time water....spewed into the room.....and all over the gaping gypsy.

Glorfindel groaned as he eyed the dripping gypsy through a hazy fog.

"I’m sorrrry. . . meleth......it's. . .it's. . ." The golden Lord rocked backwards, another sneeze ripping from his chest.

Feredir straighten himself and calmly dabbed at the moisture that covered his face. Looking over at the wide-eyed March Warden, he pointed his finger and walked away.

" Don' t even start...." he grumbled to the smirking Elf as he made his way as far from Glorfindel as possible.
