What a perfect plot twist. I hadn't even thought about Legolas having to go to the border . I have no idea why Celeborn thought this was necessary but I don't care. This sets up so many plot bunnies. Legolas and Haldir are bound to get in a lot of trouble and into hot water. Figuratively not literally. Some of the warriors will definitely not want Legolas there and others will call him a female again. Some will hit on him while Haldir is busy and Haldir will make heads roll and fuss and worry about his wife. This is going to be so much fun.
I thought the comment about the vein in Haldir's neck going to pop was so funny. I could just see that scene.
The letters from all their friends was nice. Got Legolas started on his crying jags. And yes this elfling will be incredibly spoiled until it has siblings and maybe after as well. Thranduil will see to that.
I liked the neighbor a lot. There always has to be someone who will give lots of unwanted advice and fusses and potters around driving Haldir to distraction while Legolas gets kind of caught in between. They will be glad to have her around though when things get tough, Legolas goes into labor and they are left alone with an elfling and neither one of them knows a thing about elflings. What a scream
