Chapter 66

That high pitched, excited happy screaming you hear is me!!! I'm so happy for Legolas and Glorfindel. Their relationship has gone through an amazing evolution from where it began to where it is now. I am so glad about where it is now. I can hardly wait for the next chapter

I liked the prequel and Anestel, though one thing has always bothered me: Legolas is simply too submissive, weak and pathetic. During the first chapters of Anestel, I thought it was understandable since he was going through so much stuff, but during the whole story I was avidly waiting for him to stop being such a weak and pathetic being and to grow a backbone. But he never did. That's the gaping failure in the story. The story would be much more interesting and it would be great if just Legolas could become someone who could be admired, but he isn't. He simple keeps being weak and pathetic and never does anything to make others respect him. Everyone treats him like a whore because he allows Glorifindel to treat him as such. If he doesn't like how others treat him, then he should do something about it, instead of whimpering and crying on Glorindel's chest. That's the reason why I lost interest in the story. Legolas character never developed through all the things he went through. And in canon, Legolas has pride and bravery, so despite of what happened to him in your story I would have expected him to become someone worthy of admiration instead of making me just slightly despise him for his constant weakness.

poor legolas... so sad no one ever loved him. their relationship is so twisted and sickening and yet lovely at the same time.

I was sooo excited to see an update. I had to stop everything and read it right away, twice. I no longer cringe at Gorfindel's actions or want to cry on Legolas's behalf. Their relationship is still unorthodox but it is more balanced and it works for them. I have gotten really emotionally invested with Legolas, Glorfindel and Gil. I just hope that all the political maneuvering doesn't backfire. Glorfindel is getting his priorities straight and will be there to love and guide him along the way so hopefully all will be well. I am thrilled that Legolas is growing, gaining confidence and is poised to start realising his full potential as prince, parent, warrior and lover. I can envision a whole series here... so keep writing please.

@Rokkis: Thanks for your feedback! I wanted to recommend you give this sequel to Anestel a try, but I see you found it already. :)

It's not my intention to glorify rape or slavery, yet on the other hand I do love fandom tropes like slavery AUs, so my intention here was to write a story with elements I like and think hot, and yet to find a resolution that is realistic and believable, at least to me.

If you read on, you'll see that Glorfindel at least is aware of what a crime he has comitted, whereas Legolas - certainly also under the influence of the elvish equivalent to Stockholm Syndrome - tries not to think about their past at all and to cling to his new-found happiness.

Concerning the fading, as far as I am aware this is but another fandom trope as the (non-canonical) essay "Laws and Customs Among the Eldar" actually only states that a *married* elf who is raped would fade. (P. 228 in my HarperCollins 1994 copy of "Morgoth's Ring")

Actually, there is another paragraph in that essay that very well sums up my view of Glorfindel and the elves in general: "Many [of the Eldar], as the histories reveal, could become estranged from good, for nothing can wholly escape from the evil shadow that lies upon Arda. Some fell into pride, and self-will, and could be guilty of deeds of malice, enmity, greed and jealousy." Thus, the behaviour Glorfindel and the Noldor show is not at all a contradiction to Tolkien's writing on the elves, especially those shown in the Silmarillion and HoME.

Thank you so much for this update. It was so sweet and completely made my day. Legolas is finally loved, cherished and has found the place where he belongs...at Glorfindel's side.

Yay! I get so excited when I see a new chapter! I'm glad Legolas is able to take the teasing from others and Glorfindel's games without falling apart. I can't wait for the party though.

Thank you so much for the update! This only left me craving more! Glorfindel seems to have made the art of er, pleasurable restrain into an art form! "...it was as if your body belonged more to me than it did to you." Such a possessive elf. : )
