Poor elves...
But, I think you're right. You could probably break it into a sequel story here, and figure out how to explain how Legolas doesn't fade with Haldir's death at Helm's deep. I saw one story where it was explained that the Valar intervened to bring Haldir back to life, but that seemed very cheesy.

Poor Legolas... if he only knew what the future really holds...
I think Haldir knows. Unlike Legolas, he's attentive and doesn't live with his head in the clouds.

I wonder how Legolas will fare without his key protector?
Are you going to follow the movie's story, or the the books? Or go a completely different direction?
I have to agree with your vision on Thranduil. The movie made him look very waif-like. While I get that elves are soft-looking, I don't think an elf king is going to look that much like a tall, boobless female.
Does Elladan know that he's going to be parted from Orophin?

You're right, it is getting too happy... I think Legolas is getting too comfortable. And so are the twins. What new twists will happen in their lives?

Orophin has to know that he's trapped. Celeborn wouldn't let all three brothers go.
Speaking of Celeborn... It was awfully nice of him to let Haldir go to the wedding. Does Saelbeth really have such an impact on him, or is it all for show?
The trip to Mirkwood is definitely going to be rough. Perceptions don't usually change so easily. Especially not public opinion. Will Legolas make it through without snapping?

Elladan certainly saved Haldir's bacon on that one, by claiming the crime. Had Celeborn killed him, it would have destroyed relations with Imladris.
Poor Legolas. He has so much to worry about.
