This is truly gorgeous - Voronwe's yearning and sadness are entirely true to his character. The link you draw between Voronwe's unrequited desire for Tuor and Maeglin's desire for Idril is well placed as an explanation for her feelings toward Voronwe. Of course, part of the reason I liked the story so much is that I have so much love for Voronwe and for Tuor and Idril (my OTP), and the pairing between Voronwe and Tuor works entirely within the canonical story.
