How could I have missed this fic?! I have been reading it every chance I could get non-stop from the beginning all week... and AT WORK! [Thank the powers that be for jump drives and cube walls ^_^]
Impressive, brilliant in its depth of character and emotion, intelligent, well-written, I LOVE it! Well done...

Oh my Aragorn just stepped in it now. Things are slowly building up to a confrontation of truly horrific proportions. I for one can't wait. Unless it hurts Legolas too much for him to bear of course. Well things have always turned out badly for him so this has a good probablility of doing so as well.
Poor Lindcalon (sp?), such an innocent still while believing he is so mature. He has a lot to learn about twisty turny things that have been going on right under his nose. Finding out his father was murdered in a plot to get rid of the crown prince is going to be hard for him to take.
I didn't realize that Malthen was supposed to be Legolas' bodyguard. I thought he was a personal guard to Ninglorien and accompanied her to Imladris and whenever she went gallivanting all over Middle Earth. This really ups the squick factor of Legolas' non-con by him. I fully intend to re-read this once it is done but I really don't want to go back and try to find little snippets I have missed yet but this was a little bit of a revelatioin for me.
At least you gave us a break from the absolutely rock bottom angst that was the last chapter. I still haven't recovered from that one. giggle

Sheesh! The politics of the Woodland Realm sound much to much like the politics today. Also judicial systems today. What a mesI knI know that you know where all this is going but my head hurts when we get into too much machinations.
I like the counsellf. lf. He seems to have his eyes on what is truly at stake and would like to see Thranduil taken off his high horse. If any of the elves are left alive that could testify for Legolas I would be surprised. It seems that the king has been busy packing the warrior army and court with his sycophants and killing everyone else.
So Elrond is going to get his hands slapped. Very funny. I would greatly enjoy that.
I thought the scene of fun at the end was a nice one. We need a little break from all this doom and gloom. Let's face it if angst is all Legolas has to look forward to Valinor would look very good to him when all this is said and done. If he has no ties to keep him here, like repatriating feas, then he would want to get out. At least go live in the Tawar and just come visit Fearfaron in the dark of the night and not be see any anyone else.
On to better things I hope. We need a little lightening up before the heavy guns come into play. giggle

Hello,
I wish I wasn't so dense and could figure out the conclusion they've arrived at! I'm faint with curiosity here.
Very exciting.
The news of the ring is out.
Sarah.
if this is true, it is unconscionable! The plotting of such acts! What punishment could we exact for so devious a scheme?" he railed in distress. "It is one thing to bring about death through carelessness or incompetence, but quite another to do so through malice! This would rend out peoples' very soul, to acknowledge such betrayal is possible against one's own!"
"I agree the treachery is beyond anything I would have thought any Wood Elf capable of conceiving, yet I do not think Legolas would demand any retribution. As for me, I want only for this dread decree to be lifted from him; surely he has been punished enough even before the Judgement."

Good morning. I have enjoyed the Feud so far, up to chapter 50. I look forward to reading the rest. I want to see how you reconsile Elrond & Les. s. How Aragorn confronts Elrond? How Thranduil eats his words againts Legolas. Thank you for writing such a complex and thrilling story.

Wow All I can say is just Wow.
I thought the king wouldn't waste good accomodations on Legolas' little group and I was right. I was amazed they was even allowed in the stronghold at all. A little PR work on the king's part.
I really loved the scene with Aragorn being woken up and annoyed with the kitchen noises and then the hymn to the new born prince causing the mountain itself to hum as if in accord with the song. Lovely juxtaposition.
As for the rest of the chapter it was so searing I find it hard to comment on. It is the mfeelfeeling, the most emotionally wrenching of all your work I have read so far. It ranged from the beauty of Legolas singing to the new life and giving of himself despite never having been given any such blessing in his entire life to Fearfaron's preparing him for Thranduil's assault thanks to Elrond's letter. You have the joy and the pain of imminent disaster balancing in Legolas' life in focus with just this one scene. So painful.
Fearfaron did such a good job at helping Legolas find some mental and emotional stability. He'll need all of it soon. This story is getting very painful. There is absolutely no way this is going to have a happy ending. It will be a lot like real life. Some things just aren't fixable. We have to learn, let go and move on. The prince will be a stronger, more able elf when all this is over and will have true friends but never will he have a happy family. He will have Fearfaron and Lindcalon and the elves that will follow him to Ithilien to build a new colony but never will he be able to reconcile with a true family. I do see him as more than acceptable to Oropher Thr Thranduil is in the Undying Lands so at least he will have some blood relatives that will care for him one day.
I can not imagine the pain level the prince is going to have to undergo soon. He will have his friends to succor him but the Tawar is the only entity that will be able to give him balm for the ordeal ahead of him. I shudder to think of how bad this is going to be now that Thranduil feels strong in his position with an heir to take the place of Legolas.
I have really changed my tune on this story. I thought we would have a reconciliation with the king, not able to happen now; that Elrond would come to his senses and rise above his hatred, not going to happen now; that Legolas would be proven not a kinslayer for his role in that mess at the Battle, might not matter one way or another now. Things have gone way beyond what was at stake in the beginning of this tale. We are on a downward spiral that looks like a runaway trainwreck that can't be stopped.
I am just wrung out by reading this chapter. I thought some of your early chapters were dark but this one for me was like a dirge. giggle
