#71 We've given up on numbered chapters I see. I still have to use some number so I can keep up properly.

That was so sweet. The rest of Legolas' family. He has a created family. They are there because they claim him not by blood. That still works. Such a sweet crowd pleasing scene. Not to the king of course. He prides himself on not showing emotion. I always felt that wood elves, unlike other elvwerewere a lot more open and emotional. I was grining like a Cheshire Cat.
Ha Cranky Thranduil makes the crowd mad once again. I bet he wishes people liked him. They don't.

Nice little interlude in the garden until Aragorn and Erestor decide to talk things out. I can agree with Erestor about the plans. Sometimes plans like that look great on paper but not in the execution. I used to have a cartoon that said, "It is hard to remember your objective was to drain the swamp when you are up to your ass in alligators." Erestor got up to his ass really fast with his learning curve.

Ack! Go Erestor Go. That was great. Knocked the bad elf out totally out. He deserved it. UH OH The wood elves contrary to expectation do understand Quenya and now they know what Malthen had been up to all those years ago. How embarrassing for Tirno. Will this fire up more hate for Legolas or will they feel that he was taken advantage of? I though Erestor acquitted himself quite well. Of course surprise was on his side.

And my namesake shows up again. I hope you don't mind that I enjoy this so much. I like being in on exciting things. Thank you for putting me in the big middle.

Good the wood elves aren't upset that Tirno has beenusy usy little bee, flitting from flower to flower. Also their eyes are being opened to the horrible childhood forced on their forest champion. Child rape + immediate execution. No wonder Malthen glossed over exactly what he had done to the prince and made sure Legolas was so dominated that he never told. But did he want to make sure Legolas wasn't alive to tell. Well he did come back to "help" Legolas. The fact that no one would let him help because they had his number was an equation he hadn't counted on. But he forfeited Aman to come back and he seemed sincere. I am glad that Talagan is beginning to see things for what they really are.
Legolas still loves Malthen. When a child has no love in their life they often reach out for any attention they can get. They will pay any price necessary to be loved. Very often the abused takes any blame on themselves. Which Legolas does. He actually takes blame for everything on himself. All his emotional growth would also stop at the time the abuse started so he is still very childlike inside. This does kind of equate with the Legolas in the book. He was very childlike. I just chalked it up to being an immortal elf but you have used it to further your story. Clever you.

Talagan is beginning to see that Thranduil is not a very admirable elf. You can say that again. The crowd of warriors are beginning to see the king for what he actually is also. What with barracks gossip this will be all around the citizenry by tomorrow.

I agree with Gladhadithen that the king has acted in amost vile manner. If this had been any other elfling the king would have acted but he hated Legolas so much he allowed this to continue. Now the warriors realize this was because he wanted his "son" dead. Not a big leap to think maybe the little fracas at Erebor could have been a cover to make that happen. Hmmm.

I lovedErestor's very dramatic entry. Nice way to just sneak in and hope no one notices the mess. Yeah sure. That was fun. I enjoyed it. I am sure Meril will hear all about it and pass on her version to the king.

So here we go about Erebor. Oh wow. See oh king this warriould uld have been yours. That fealty could have been laid at your feet. It is shocking that Thranduil still doesn't appreciate that TawarWaith is not the weepy elfling he so despises. You don't spend all your time out fighting orcs, spiders and shadow and not become a fierce, battle hardened warrior.

Big Sigh here. Sure Legolas it is all your fault, whatever. Do not think that your family is going to put up with this for one minute. The truth will out. If not it will just fester and cause gangrene. Cut it out here and now and let it heal for everyone involved. giggle

Chapter 63

Ah the twins are back. I l ike your version of them very much although I hate to think of their pain, past and future. I loved the bird calls heralding their unchecked passage through the Golden Woods.

Your Arwen has brown eyes. Tolkien sure had a thing for grey eyes didn't he? Anyway your Arwen sounds lovely. I thought ypoinpointing out that they can't even find solace in each other for the pain of the past was really sad. Their feelings are still so deep and fresh. Being human isn't so bad. We do tendforgforget how bad things really were.

Galadriel and her memories, and not all of them good. Some who read fanfiction get upset when the elves are portrayed as lustful, deceitful, lying philanderers. Check out Galadriel's extended family and tell me you would want them as neighbors. I think not.

Nice description of Galadriel's talan, as always. I have to look up arcuate though. Memo to self. I love learning new words.

Isn't it wonderful that the other elven realms t Tat Taurant's birth with such joy. A little sarcasm there.

Elrohir didn't take Legolas' ousting well did he? He is certainly sweet. Elladan seems to be a little harder, more brittle, not as open to certain aspects of life as Elrohir. We get back to the ubiquitous Galadriel and her "seeing". She always knew thegolegolas would not be king. He has something else on his plate for the future. He is certainly getting good training for his future life having to battle shadow's forces.

Poor Elrohir. When he learns the truth about Elrond's little side trip he is going to be devastated. Elrond has blocked Galadriel from his mind. I need to ask here, what mind. I wouldn't inquire too far into his mindset right now. Big black hole between his ears at this point in time.

Oh sure Celeborn. Let's invite the Greenwood King and Council to a place they hate. Sure thing. I think Thranduil hates Galadriel and Celeborn. At least Oropher moved just to get away from their influence. I am sure Mirkwood will be thrilled that the 'Lorien contingent will preside over this little shindig. Excuse while I have a hearty laugh over that one. I can't wait to see how this goes. You will give it due weight I am sure.

Now we have Arwen's little hissy fit. Is she ever in for a pride before the fall thing. She is surely Daddy's Girl and he can do no wrong in her eyes. When he is exposed in his madness her heart will be broken again. Since Aragorn cares so much for Legolas it will be interesting to see how they deal with this. She can't stand to even hear about him.

Interesting statement about Ningloriel being in Elrond's life longer than Celebrian. I went whoa, then realized of course. Celebrian had left for Valar and Ningloriel had stayed for much longer. Amazing how you put things sometimes. Anyway that begins Arwen's enlightening and it isn't pleasant. I foresee lots of tears and heartbreak in her future.

I very much enjoyed Galadriel's musings about her ring, the mirror, her place in Arda. As far as being able to return to Aman, she can't. She was banned and had to earn the right to return to her family. She can admit now to her underlying reasons for much of what she did. I think she has come to understand herself so that when Frodo shows up with The Ring she can rebuff the power it would bring her. She has learned her limits, her weaknesses and has been humbled by it all. It took her a long time to realize that the song may be changed by her ring's power but ultimately the song is not hers to control. Good for her. OOH The mirror.

It was good to see the twins again. I feel that the trip to accompany Elrond to 'Lorien is not going to be a good one. There are going to be four very unhappy elves on the way back from Imladris. giggle

Chapter 63 Part 2

At first I was just so into the story and thought it was really happening. I could see why Lindcalon would want to leave Mirkwood because of his mother's anger. The king might try to arrange for a suitable accident for him to makeil hil happy again. So this was all feasible. Then of course after all this sturm und drang it was just the mirror. Whew. I didn't like Galadriel's thoughts though. The peril if Legolas comes to the wood too soon. OOH Shivery music.

Now even though this was mirrmirror do the outcast wood elves really live in 'Lorien? Now that Galadriel knows they are bad will she begin to watch them, check them out and maybe get rid of them? I would prefer that orcs eat them. As you can see I can be very blood thirsty.

That was such an exciting, nerve wracking chapter. It made me all goosebumpy. Poor Legolas. Being all stomped again. Sigh. giggle

Chapter 62
Oh golly here we are with Elrond and Glorfindel. I would want to pretend nothing happened alf I f I came upon a scene like that. I hope I never do. Elrond's Very Embarassing Moment Here.

Very tense conversation. Thrst rst scroll. After all Thranduil is the king and if he says this is his heir I imagine since the mother is a wood elf and Ningloriel hasn't provided a viable heir then he gets his wish. He didn't make up the rules he just didn't know about them.

Now the second scroll and all hell breaks loose. nduinduil is showing his hand and upping the ante. I will quote from Theoden King from a later time "How did it come to this?" How did the noble, valiant, LoreMaster and Healer of Imladris, Elrond Peredloselose his way and fall so disastrously far? That is a good question for Glorfindel to ask.

What a painful conversation between the Lord and his commander. Elrond is obssessed and why? Any other would be expelled from Imladris for what Elrond has done. Now the ultimate price. The pain and damage done to his children.

He still blames Legolas for what his actions have caused. What a horrible fate he wants for the prince. The dungeons of Dol Guldur. Shudder. Good Glorfindel points out that Legolas didn't come to Imladris to seduce Elrond. When will Elrond realize his failings have brought all this to pass.

Oh losing a tooth was great. Maybe that will knock some sense into him.

Elrond claims to be in love with Legolas. Sheesh. What would he do if he hated him. Why did this happen? When and how. Is it because he is Ningloriel's son, he looks like her. He certainly doesn't act like her even if Elrond thinks they are both sluts.

I do like how Elrond trapped himself by his own oh so nasty letter. He and Thranduil are quite a lot alike. At least it no longer exists but Glorfindel is right. The only way Elrond can redeem himself is to admit to all and be truly repentant. And Elrond cannot even let go of his trophies. They made me think of tro trophies that serial rapists or killers keep to remind them of their deeds. I didn't like them at all. I like Glorfindel wanting to throw Elrond in after them. He is such a straight arrow.

I really like your Glorfindel. He is truly honourable and wants his Lord to do the right thing. He sees all the fa and and failings of Elrond and can work witm bum but he won't condone the wrongs his Lord has committed.

If Elrond really, truly loves Legolas what a mess. It could take millenia for them to come to some sort of raprochement in a relationship. Legolas has to build self esteem and Elrond has to humble himself. And for elves arrogance is a given. Of course Legolas seems to be an incredibly forgiving elf. No arrogance there. I did get the impression from the chapters where Elrond and Legolas were together that since both of them were so damaged from loss that they could find solace in each other. It will be interesting to see if this eventually works out. I would think that Legolas needs a lot of time to heal. He may even need to travel to the Undying Lands like Frodo to fully heal from his pain. Poor elf. giggle

Chapter 60

Missed chapter 59 did we? I hope so. I would hate to miss one single word of this story.

Nice set up for your chapter. The gathering of the elves at this place long before Oropher? That is how I read it anyway.

The fate of their champion. This makes me think of Queen's "We Are The Champions" every time I hear Legolas called the champion.

These elves are being forced to take sides by the actions of the king. I though Meril was so connected to the pipeline of gossip that she would be aware of this state of affairs. Her manuevering is accomplishing the incipient breakdown of the kingship itself. thatthat what she wants? To destroy the king? Hmm. That is a new thought to me. I will have to ponder on that for awhile.

I liked the music of the wood wind world being brought to the attention of Eru, the wonder of the music of the Tawar. I really love the whole music thing with the elves that Tolkien came up with. The idea that humans can't really hear the song but the FirstBorn can. One day after the Quest Tawar will sing harmoniously again and the champion will have been a part of the song. Take that you mighty fool of a king. OK I have vented my spleen so I can get on with your chapter.

Wow That is quite an audience. I like the mental emage of elves dropping like the guards in front of Buckingham Palace on a hot day. Utterly quiet. That got a shiver from me.

The invocation by the wizards was superb. You always put in those points to make it seem real. Lots of homework being done here. The description of On ann and Radagast was glori As As far as the king never understanding, he will be sorry again that he doesn't pay attention. That was also a nice description of the champion. So nice that even though it is very cool here I felt nice and warm.

That throne sounds just fabulous. He has his constellations of his birth also on the throne. I see a theme developing here. He never cared for the predictions. So far the things he has paid little or no attention to have risen up to bite him in the butt. Should we hope for more? I certainly hope so.

Great description of the king in all his battle gear. He is so full of himself. In fact all your description of the combatants was just right on. Also the description of the arena the battle will be fought was nicely awe inspiring. I love a good set up.

I liked the king not being able to hold Legolas eye to eye. Go Legolas and his eyes of wrath or was it rage? I forget.

Maltahondo is there. Boo Hiss Yes Thranduil your dear son has been had by that creep. Let's see. Can I add this to Thranduil's sins of omission and commission. Why yes I can. Add that to the list.

Erestor to the left of him, Maltahondo to the right, stuck in the middle with Thranduil. Legolas gets no breaks does he. Sorry for the musical interlude. I seem to be musical tonite. You started it with that song to Eru.

You had me with the shirt matching the color of his eyes. Sigh. It is nice that elves are finally able to help their champion in ways that are overt and not covert.

Yes Thranduil, see what you threw away. What moved in the depths of his soul set him apart. He is the stuff of legends and will be legend before he leaves Arda.

Now poor Lincalon. His life has just been shattered by Meril and her machinations. Although Gwilith was good for comic relief. What a time to notice that baby brother has different plumbing. We have Lindcalon suffering from two sides now.

What words have I not used for Meril. I have used up all the bad words I know I think. Would Mandos accept her at all or would he make he wander a houseless one. Would he accept her and then never let her be reborn, making her wait to the end of all things. I don't know she is just full of evil. Hard call to make.

At least Lindcalon is no longer in any d as as to his mother's character. To have your illusions shattered is so hard. Legolas was very young when Maltahondo destroyed his life and now we have Lindcalon's happiness being destroyed also. And she has the gall to try to punish him in the hearing. Wow What a bitch.

Rather Legolas wants this or not everything is going to have to be openly exposed. These kinds of things fester and then go bad at the worst times. I'm glad that Mithrandir agrees with me. And Lindcalon has made his choice also. I liked his feeling of closeness with his deceased father. So some small good came ou thi this terrible drama.

Now to the good stuff. Thranduil makes his opening move and we have rebuttal. This should be fun. So Thranduil has alienated Talagan. See that conk on the head knocked some sense into Talagan. This king is setting himself more and more at odds with those he needs just to placate that female harridan. He'll live to regret this. He is already beginning to with his deja vu. Good.

This is a lovely chapter full of wonderful descriptions. You paint such a vivid detailed account of this world it can seem so real. giggle

Chapter 60 Part two

Great struggle in Thranduil's diseasend. nd. I siseaiseased because he attributes his motives to Legolas. Not realizing there can be love, peace, harmony to be found in Tawar. He has held himself aloof from this gift of the forest so he cannot understand the chage in the prince.

So he would be proud to accept this new Legolas as a battle brother; or as a son. That just made me shiver with disgust. AS long as he clings to his hatred he is not to be trusted as far as Legolas is concerned.

Meril felt real fear. As well she might. She has something very evil to hide and she is in great fear that it will come to light. She is willing to sacrifice anyone and anything she has to keep this secret. Since she is projecting this fear Thranduil is misled as far as the direction of that fear. He can feel that she perceives a bleak and fearful fate for her children. Would Thranduil turn his back on these children also as he did Legolas? He truly cares for them. If Meril were to be exposed would he hate her as he hated Ningloriel. I don't think so unless it were public knowledge. He really loves bothil ail and his children by her. I don't think he ever loved Ningloriel and she never loved him. I still don't know if Meril loves him or is just using him. The link they have should tell him so maybe she does love him.

OK now Lindcalon testifies to the truth and all hell breaks loose. What a roller coaster ride. Up and down, over and over again. The crowd was like the audience at a tennis match. First left then right then back again. Whew. I am amazed they didn't get motion sickness. And poor Legolas gets a public verbal beating again. This time he stuck it out. He is gettign tougher.

I truly enjoyed Mithrandir calling the king on his two pronged attack and catching the king in his own trap and so once again Thranduil was bested. He doesn't seem to realize that his "people" in many ways have more sense than he does. He is so shallow and one dimensional in his thinking that it would be easy to lure him into a compromising situation.

I thought the crowd toing and froing were a lot like "Monty Python and The Holy Grail" when they are discussing how to tell if someone is a witch. Not the brightest h.
h.

I was glad that Legolas got an opportunity to "claim" his siblings in public and proclaim his love for them. That despite his kings wrath and anger the council and all the elves were a witness to this and also Lindcalon's fervent claim as to the truth of the matter.

So the king is troubled by his "peoples" betrayal. What about his betrayals. They are much deeper than anything his "people" have done. He is the perfect dupe. I thought at first that he was totally responsible for Erebor but now I have many doubts. He is just too gullible. I know he wanted to get rid of Legolas so he may know who he thinks pulled this off but he could be badly mistaken. In fact he probably is.

Great chapter. giggle

Chapter 60 Part three

Well Councilor I thinks he is in the catbird seat now doesn't he? If only Legolas will not be foolishly noble. He is isn't he? How does he know the truth will be bad for his siblings? Sigh. The truth might set them all free.

The Councilor's thoughts about the spirit of Oropher in the son of Ningloriel was interesting and right on. The king doesn't know his son he sees only the physical package the son comes in and probably has never looked closely enough to see how much like his father Legolas really is. He doesn't want to know. I think it is sweet when you can see your forebearers in your children. I don't expect the king to agree with me on this one though. Actually we would agree on very little.

I am glad that the song of joy that Legolas sang because of Taurant's birth has made it's mark on the elves in the stronghold. They have of course gossiped to anyone outside the area so that all would know about it now. It is obvious that he was happy. Music really speaks to the elves and they can find the truth in it.

The LOOK from the king and the councilor knows he has to move fast. At least he is fast on his feet when it comes to getting his own way. A little too much nobility from Legolas would only get in the way. Smirk.

Oh now we get sour grapes from Thranduil about Legolas' friendship with the settlers. Cheez Louise this guy is never happy about anything. Oh now we get Chloe Amethyst and Sarah. I'm not sure about the name beginning with L. Anyway they are fine and that was fun. The king sure is a whiner isn't he. Now he thinks the champion is setting up an army. At least he feels that he might be able to use this army rather than kill Legolas for arming settlers. I think the king is ambling down Paranoia Lane to Looneyville myself.

Nice discourse on the duality of the wood elves. Of course the kings eyes glaze over. Not that he wants to learn anything. He just wants to get angry and not get it. It was lovely how the elves have faito pto protect themselves or the Tawar from the shadow. They are cursed to live in interesting times. That was great when the man said that Legolas would always be their athelin, leader, lord, prince and Legolas goes OH. Smirk.

History lesson Thr Thranduil that ends in a flashback. So Thranduil and his men drew first blood. I have noticed that his bitterness and hatreds always seem to stem from his own misguided actions. He marries the wrong woman, he becomes a kinslayer and causes a judgement against the wood elves so that they kill themselves. Yet it is all about the king, always. He never sees other elves pain, fear, sacrifice. He is really narcissistic. Not a good quality in a king. There has to be some altruism or your realm suffers. He has taken his self hate and bitterness and turned it outwards to maim others.

When he realizes how easy it is to read him, direct him, manipulate him an image of Meril pops into his head. He ignores it. Pity. He might begin to think if he would stop looking for straw men to knock down and look to what is actually happening. He will rue the day when the chickens finally come home to roost. There will be laughter in many different areas methinks. Not just Valinor.

You write confontation really good. Congratulations. I loved it. The king realizing that there might be more to this than even his scheming mind can grasp and is willing to let this one go so he can get a clearer picture. Now Legolas is a tool, a weapon used by someone else. The council? Elrond? He's right about his bitterness, deep seated hatred, lack of knowledge could so easily be used by someone who has watched him react for centuries to outside influence.

I was glad that Legolas had the cojones to make a stand. He stood toe to toe with the king and showed he has the maturity and strength to make it. Not that he enjoyed it by any means but he did it.

Erestor acquitted himself well with his explanation also. He didn't tell any secrets just that Legolas was an innocent. As far as the wizards the king wants it both ways. Stay out of my affairs but shoehorn yourself into the affairs of others for me. I don't think so but nice try. You can't have your cake and eat it too.

So the king declares that the fault lies not with TawarWaith but lies elsewhere. He will be like a dog who has lost his bone now. His attention has been on Les fos for far too long. I think there are many now who are going to be very worried about this turn of events. He will not stop until he has the truth and this is just what Legolas warned Meril about.

Great chapter. giggle

I hope this gets through. Trying to review anymore is so frustrating. I feel very sorry for Ayla trying to ride herd on this site.

Chapter 58
Into the garden. It sounds really lovely. I am amazed that Thranduil hasn't had it torn to shreds considering his hatred of his wife. The Ningloriel maze was suitably self centered. She was very predictable. Also the periwinkles to form the heaven's constellations at the moment of her birth was a nice touch but nothing for her only child. Sigh. Her centuries of care of the garden and her centuries of neglect of him. To everyone in his life he has been an object. Something to use to make a point, use for pleasure, to hurt someone else. He has never been real before. This is changing and that is nice.

I think Legolas' fear here of Thranduil and what he might do reinforces my desire to see Thranduil get his ass kicked but good. I do like the slow way you are bringing everyone into the picture so that everyone gets their just reward. For good or ill. Keep piling it on.

Sweet elflings to feed Tawarwaith. And Legolas is so nice to not want brothers to argue. He wants family to be sacred. The way he wants his siblings to be family for him. He needs family love so much that he is ferocious to claim them. These two are the only two he has that he can claim in blood. Thranduil will never accept him. I am so happy he has Fearfaron to comfort him. Yes flee to Fearfaron's talan to get away from Erestor. He has quite a few to flee from right now. He sure gets himself into scrapes. He means well but I think he marches to the tune of a different drummer.

Talagan the twerp. He is right. Thranduil leaving in a rush has everng tng to do with Legolas but he shouldn't be such a bully about it. No one's running away here. I loved Radagast conking him one. The wizards are getting a little annoyed with their elvish welcome aren't they? giggle I have to say Radagast because I can't spell his elvish name for love or money. Go on Radagast teach these wood elves some manners.

Oh dear. Erestor. Those two paragraphs were so good. The one from Legolas' POV showing his dilemma. He is in quite a dry dry between the betrayal and his pleasure derived from Erestor. And then Erestor seeing in Legolas' eyes what he has brought to the wild one. The blank fading. Make him feel really bad.

I see I'm here being the voice of reason. I am so glad that you let me be firm but just. What is so funny is that until I retired to raise my daughter I was a nurse and spent a lot of time in ER. I feel right at home in the Healing Halls. I have healed most people in the Woodland realm. Well go me. Even if I approve heartily Talagan being put on ice for awhile. Bad me.

I love the stand off and Erestor with his borrowed scimitar. What mess. Every move poor Legolas makes just adds to the calamity and drama. Even when he thinks he will just have a little snuggle with his new brother. OK Legolas was foolish but with a good cause. I think the wizards understand even if they don't agree.

Now here comes Lindcalon with the bad news. Meril with her sharp claws is getting ready to stike fast and hard. How I wish kinslaying were acceptable. I would have exed her long ago. Nasty elf. giggle

Between my life this summer and AFF.net's woes I have gotten so far behind. I'm afraid to click on anything on this site for fear the link will just disappear. Well here goes. Let's see if this actually gets through or gets lost in cyberspace as some of my reviews have here lately.

Chapter 57 Part One

Well your description was definitely an ancient, very thick forest. Greenwood not a gentle Eden for elves to frolic in. It is rather a forbidding place. No wonder the elves there are less wise and more dangerous. They have a need to be dangerous indeed to survive in their beloved forest. You need to be tough to be there. Gave me shivers you did.

That whole building the forest road, the dwarves and their "negotiation tactics", the elves and their desire to protect the forest and their privacy was really good writing. You can really see why there would be no love lost between elves and dwarves. They have no desire to even have a conversation about things just get what they want. It did open the elves up to what was going on outside their forest home though. Why anyone would want to know and get involved is more than I can understand. I would make a good wood elf. Leave me alone and get off my land. I don't even like listeningthe the news now.
Just before he confronts Erestor and Radagast Thranduil's realization that his people are becoming extinct. His own children are hybrids. He is only now coming to grips with this? He isn't too quick on the uptake is he? It is inevitable that the two groups will blend. He can't stop that. He may find that there is very little he can really stop when all is said and done here.
Ah. Pootel tel has his hopes dashed. He had hoped that Erestor would be able to explain all to him. That this was all just a giant misunderstanding. It is hard when you find your idol has feet of clay, is imperfect as all else around you and can make mistakes. But now he realizes that if Erestor has taken part in the damage done to Legolas then Elrond has done the same.
I thought Erestor comported himself well. Everyone seems to be on their best behaviour before the crowd so that no one gets to take advantage. Talagan is still kind of snarky here but Thranduil decides to be a good host. In public at least. This means he has something up his sleeve. He isn't nice unless he expects to get a good reward for it. Cynical aren't I? Your story brings that out in me. I really loved all the jockeying for position going on here. The Council has to get their two cents worth in as well.
Thranduil never passes up an opportunity to alienate people does he? His treatment of the councilors, Talagan, anyone he can. Such a short sighted way to do business. Never kick someone under you, they will return the favor as soon as they can.
And Erestor spellbound by the tapestry. I did like the idea that all those warriors were immortalized in their sacrifice. Here we have twins, so like the Elrondion. Do we have the missing twins honored in perpetuity for their falling before the Black Gates? Won't Elrohir by happy to know they survived to fight the Dark One. He won't be happy they fell though. At least that is what I hope you are alluding to. Your chapters and story is so deep and convoluted. I love the way you write.
Now let's get down to business. What was Elrond Peredhel doing in the Greenwood? What a can ofms ams about to be opened.

Chapter 57 Part Two
Well that nice little interlude didn't last long once they got into the king's study. What a free for all.
Poor Erestor. He is suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome. It has touched his whole life. You even had him change his name. Elves and people in Middle Earth sure carry around a lot of names.
I really liked your Erestor's assessment of his past having stripped all desire for valour from him. He could see it's falsehood and how it only brings a lessening of elves in Middle Earth. They have little choice since the Dark One and his minions and cohorts are the ones forcing valour or death on them.
Also showing Legolas' dng wng with the loss of everything he should hold dear and forging a true valour out of ashes and contrasting it with Elrond who is considered to be an Elf Lord of high repute but having no valour in his dealings with Legolas. Sigh. Then Aragorn sees the blackness where Elrond's heart should be when he reads that really nasty letter. That letter is going to ruin Elrond's life for a long time.
That was a really wild ride. From start to finish. First the nasty letter, then all hell broke lose. At least Mithrandir was there to cool everything and everyone off. Not. He just heated everthing and everyone up just enough to put a stop to things.
Just as Thranduil was rubbing his hands together at the thought that he was going to finally bring Elrond to bay nasty Meril has to have a fit. I hope Legolas will be OK. yipes. giggle
