*rolls eyes and sighs* I suppose you’re going to tell me there’s no Boromir in THIS one EITHER!? *sighs again* We-e-e-e-ell, I suppose I’ll read it anyway. After all, if you’re not using Boromir then I can. *grins evilly*
“‘I could do without images of what goes through your mind in my dreams.’” That’s right, Arwen, you do NOT want to go there. :D
Oh, and if you’re taking a poll on whether or not to include the N/C, put me down for a great big YES! *takes place in “Depraved” queue* How ‘bout adding a little twist, though, why not have our heroine do the taking this time, hmm?

Hmmm, it's probably best that Cala doesn't run off at the mouth on Elrond in front of Arwen. What a scene THAT would make! XD
I want to know more. I'm just not sure where this is heading yet, although I am very intrigued.

@ Beth:
Absolutely NO reason to feel sheepish, au contraire, my dear. That was a great and fascinating post (yes, Frosty, I am aware we are taking a short little detour from review land, I am sorry, lol!). In fact, I couldn't agree more with what you said and would sign every word of it. I am also delighted to learn you have covered the topic intensively during your studies - always nice to meet somebody who also has covered the matter from a professional point of view. It is also quite a coincidence that we both share that common experience in our childhood and what you said regarding the topic makes sense to me as well. So thank you very much for sharing, it is much appreciated! :) *huggles Beth from across the big pond* :)
And to put it in the words of my beloved Monty Python gang:
"AND NOW FOR SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT!" :D

to SV: (8warning about sensitive subject material or TMI for those easily disturbed, although I can't think why someone like that would be reading these reviews)
Thanks! It's ironic you should mention that topic--I started writing a paper on force fantasies and what is accepted within normal cultural bounds, etc for a magazine last spring. I didn't want Frosty or Elven to think that was the only reason I liked their stories, though--I enjoy them b/c they're well written het (with occasional slash! :D) in them. PWP is kind of boring, and so many of the stories in the archives are completely ooc. I mean, Legolas sleeping with Gimli?!? ...Moving on.
There was a lot of argument on campus before I even wrote the article because someone mischaracterized it as "rape fiction." Yes, non-fiction discussions of psychology are really rape stories. *rolls eyes* Is it acceptable for a woman to imagine she's the guy taking the girl? If we accept women imagining they are forced, why do we condemn men for reading rape fantasies as well? Etc, and so on.
One of the topics I was going to discuss in this unpublished piece is how many people's reactions to sexuality in fiction sometimes have to with their psychological reactions to abuse. (While I never suffered long-term abuse, I was assaulted when I was a little kid--not asking for pity, just explaining here.) Strange but true; I really find writing and reading N/C to be cathartic because it reminds me that real life isn't a pretty, picture perfect story with all happy endings.
I hope no one is too freaked out by what I just said. I can be a frighteningly honest person. *sheepish*

@ Beth:
Hell, no, you are most certainly not (or we both are, you decide! *g*).
A liking for N/C in a story or a fantasy is perfectly normal and in fact healthy (as long as it stays there, of course!) as it plays with the elements of control, dominance, submission, power etc. apart, of course, from the sexual aspect. But it is mainly a sensual mind game so to speak. I could write a 50 page essay about that subject alone (then again... maybe not!!!), since psychological aspects of sexuality are touching my professional field to some degree at times, but I would bore you stiff, I assure you. ;) In RL somebody may be in charge of things and likes to be in control - which is why he or she may enjoy the N/C element when it is WELL written, because it then toys with the idea of what happens when you temporarily loose that control. Unfortunately a lot of authors - and readers - misunderstand what N/C is actually all about and turn this into the "rabbit sex in Middle Earth show". It drives me crazy every time I see it happen. *Sandra finds herself suddenly being slapped in the face by her multiple personalities* "DO SHUT UP AND TAKE YOUR PILLS!" :D

I certainly did not expect to start a new story so soon, needless to say, I am delighted! :) Very interesting start plus I am confused and interested to see how you will bring Elros back from the past in this story, lol! Keep it coming, Frosty. :)

Wheee! New fic. I suppose I'll read this one, even though it's Elrond-centric. ;) The plot is fairly new, after all! But what about the N/C?!? *sobs*
Yes, I'm sick. Sue me.
