While I certainly find this hot Haldir fascinating and very sexy, Tolkien also made him very brave. Remember in FOTR,the book, while the fellowship, including Legolais slept, Haldir was out hunting orcs, and at Helmsdeep he was fighting for his and his mens' lives while Leggy and Gimly played games. Keep him as hot and sexy as you dare, but please don't strip him of what it was that made all of us scream at Helm's Deep.

:-) Thanks for answering my frustrations so kindly! :-)
Ah, but clearly now in this chapter, it is So painfully clear that Legolas cannot compete. :-( Haldir and Annowe don't understand why he had to go on with the Quest--and don't realize that if he hadn't, (though he doesn't realize this either, so...) that it all might have failed in the end. Haldir's a selfish bugger, tho, inn't he?? He had Glorfindel; had Legolas and dumped him and dumped ON him; now he has Annowe too. Whatever will they do when Legolas comes back, and his heart breaks over what they've done?? And of course he'll be battling the cuiviear by then too, and will be all battered and broken inside and an emotional mess.... and like the soldier who comes back from war, he'll find that the woman he adores couldn't wait for him, and fell in love with a smug bugger from Lorien. :-(
PLEASE promise me you'll do something nice for Legolas... that doesn't involve him being consoled by Gimli or something icky like that.... *g* Somebody has to care what happens to him!! He's going to need love and desire and loyalty and stuff just to continue to draw breath....
I think I need a life. :-) I'm sitting here getting all pissed off at two completely fictional characters for treating shamelessly a third completely fictional character... :-) Why do you have to write so well?? Why did they have to be so cruel to Legolas?? Arggggggggggggghhhhhhh!!!!
Anyway... great chapters!! *goes off sobbing helplessly*

God, it really is such a beautiful tale... but over and over one thing keeps knelling in my mind.
Legolas loves her SO much... and at first it seemed she understood that duty for both of them came before anything else. Now all either she or Haldir seem to do is betray him right and left, over and over, while he is at the post of danger. Like the soldier who goes abroad to war leaving his beloved home alone, Annowe has betrayed him--with his former lover for heaven's sake!--and she had lots of guilt over that in earlier chapters! Now, it seems like "Oh well, Legolas is young and stupid and brave and noble and clueless, and we're here...." :-(
I feel SO badly for Legolas... have either of them considered what this is going to do to him? He'll come home, having seen all sorts of horrors and lived through it nobly... then because he's young and an inexperienced lay he will find he has NO ONE??? Why does Haldir despise him so? Was he just a notch on the Warden's belt after all? Poor Legolas.... :-( When his heart breaks, will it be enough for his supposed friends and loved ones that Annowe loves him with her head but nothing else?
NOT a flame... I think you write beautifully, you do dialogue superbly, and you have an eye for the small details that make a story just wonderful. This story IS wonderful. But I am SO upset for poor Legolas! :-)
Looking forward to the rest of the tale....

Very good story, and it has had be captivated throughout its entire lenght. This strange dance around each other with Haldir and Annowe as they try to figure out their places is most intruging - although I must admit I DO feel a tad sorry for Legolas, going off to save the world, and then returning to find his nymph has run off with the one creature she had made clear she hated more than anything else...
Do I smell more angst coming up? *evil grin*

@ Jasta Elf:
Hon, constructive criticism like yours is NEVER EVER a flame! :) I hate it when every review that is not a praise per se is considered a "flame" and I am just glad to know that our "story mom" won't think that way and take it as the constructive and intelligent thinking that it is. So Jasta, you really shouldn't worry and not be afraid to voice your opinion, dear. Because this is not about flaming somebody, it is about HAVING a voice and an opinion which can only be a good thing, right? So don't worry, that was a good and intelligent post. :) *hugs resisting Jasta Elf*
There, my two cents, lol.
