I'm enjoying this story very much but this chapter confused me. The rape was a flashback, right? And the elf at the end of the chapter was Legolas, right? And the Fourth Age? I'm sorry, but I'm terribly, terribly confused right now.

This is so good I can't even tell you. It's been a long time since I read a Legolas story this fabulous, (or any lotr fic) and those have been few anyway it seems. It is obvious that you spend a lot of time on your chapters. I can see it in your attention to detail, and the depth of the prose. I love that! I really can't wait to see what awaits Legolas in Elrond's home. And I have r dir disliked a character as much as I do Thranduil in this.

I am sooo relieved that Legolas is fin out out of Mirkwood. I hope that Elrond and Glorfindel can show him some happiness for a change and that he lets them.

Wonderful story. I saw it at LiC.

I love what I read so far. Poor Legolas.

Keep up the great work that you are doing with your fic.

I can't wait to read the next chapter.

So far this is an intriguing story. In some respects, it seems a faint echo of 'Feud' by narcolinde, in that it features a disgraced Legolas unfairly sentenced to a terrible punishment by a father with whom he is not on good terms. (One wonders if somewhere there was a challenge that forms the basis of these two stories.) However, there are obvious departures: Elrond and tmladmladris Elves are noble and have good intentions towards Legolas; there is a mutual goal of peace and goodwill between the realms; and even early on there is theoretically (long term) hope for Legolas. (At least, one devoutly hopes that all will turn out well for Legolas, though the horrendous opening chapter gives us justifiable reason for doubt and fear.)

The story thus far is well written, and Legolas is well portrayed, particularly as regards to the apparently crucial personality characteristic of honor. It was also interesting to see Legolas through Glorfindel's eyes - a case of love at first sight if ever there was one.

I look forward to the continuation of this story (and I reiterate my hope that ultimately all ends well for Legolas).

I am in the dark uch uch as the Imladris elves about what just happened bou gou gave us a lot of clues for the future. Legolas is outranked by his younger brother and it sounds as if Thranduil has sexually abused Legolas and taken his birthright from him because of this. The younger elf not being abused to keep him innocent. Also venting all his rage on his oldest son for some reason which I hope we will find out in Legolas' interactions with Elrond and Glorfindel.
One hundred and fifty year ser service to Imladris. I wonder what that could entail. HMMM. I know what I want it to entail but we will see.
The scene in the throne room was horrific. Being stripped of all honor, dignity, birthright and then being branded by his father as a slave? Maybe we will get some more info on this too in the coming chapters. It doesn't seem to me that the elves present were all that happy about what was going on but of course one doesn't argue with a king that truly rules and just doesn't reign.
His guard having to beat him was really bad. These would be the ones he had formed a bond with like brothers and they have to carry out his punishment.
Does this mean he will have to serve ninety years in Mirkwood for his punishment or does the beating take care of that? Enquiring minds want to know.
I look forward to more explanations and convolutions to come. giggle
