This was an amazing story. I love the characterization of both Maedhros and Fingon, and I particularly found it interesting seeing Fingon struggling with the Laws and Customs. A lot of slash writers ignore them completely, and I think you used them to good effect in this story. I think you also remained very true to Tolkien's style and spirit which, given the subject matter, is quite an accomplishment, and shows (in my opinion) a deep understanding and dedication to his work. Excellent, excellent work.

I found this story through Finch's LJ, and I have to say that it took my breath away. You say so much, without ever saying too much, and express emotions that are vivid and real without ever descending into sentimentality. Just beautiful.

This was absolutely beautiful. Such lovely language and turns of phrase, and the tone was just perfect, too. A very good characterisation of Maedhros (and love the dynamics with Fingon) - I see him as bold, brave and proud, even after his ordeal, rather than bitter and detached as I've often read. Thank you for this, and I hope to read more of your work :)

One of the best MaedhFingFingon fics I've read, not in the last place because the tone is right. Also, it deals with the Laws & Customs question and acknowledges that this pairing works best with the HoMe (unmarried) version of Fingon.
